My 5 month patterdale mix will jump, get on the sofa and jump onto me and get onto the table when I'm holding a biscuit, or some crisps, or any food, so I'm asking, is this just a phase of being a puppy or is this something I'm gonna have to sort out?

if so what do i do?

  1. stop letting him on the couch and getting at your food

  2. Puppys are always hungry but you have to break him of trying to get your food.

  3. Your puppy sees that you have something so he/she wants to check it out. You need to set the ground rules and let the pup know jumping on the table is unacceptable or it could lead to problems in the future.

I have three 6-month old dachshund puppies and they tried the same type of thing during my family's dinner time and I let them know that it wasn't acceptable behavior. Still, I've noticed that these pups do eat quite a bit of food. We feed them a huge bowl of ground turkey and rice in the morning and when they've finished that they munch on puppy chow the rest of the day. They go through about 10-12 pounds of puppy chow a week but they aren't fat; they're just growing.

  4. Ok well first train him begging is not allowed or a fat pup/dog you will get. are you feeding him just once a day puppies can't go that long give him half n the morning half at night. If you let him on the couch now you will have a hard time telling him no later on. Good Luck

  5. So a couple things... Don't let puppy jump up on the sofa when you are eating.  You have to train them to let you eat so that they know that they won't get any.  Don't give them food from your plate, or they will think that every time that you eat, that they will get something too!

At this age, your puppy may still need 3 meals a day, but may also need to have his food increased.  Make sure that you are following the directions/portion size on the food container.

    Hope that helps!!

  6. you should never feed your dog from the table or give it anything your eating as it usually remembers and will beg for some of what you have the next time. If your question is mainly why your dog is so hungry, dogs lack the device in their body that tells us when to stop eating because we are "full". if theyre left with a big bag of Really yummmy food theyle eat all of it.

  7. dont let him eat alot a dog can eat and eat till they through up and will eat till they through up

  8. An increase in appetite can be a sign of anxiety in puppies.
