Question:

When will my voice change-> Voice Experts- I sort of have some "special circumstances"?

Actually, I don't think I'm even done with puberty. I'm 17. This is kinda personal but I don't even have underarm hair yet (barely). My voice sounds like that of a 12-13 yr old.

When will it change? I am also a very shy person. So, I believe I have used my voice very little. ( I suffer from social anxiety). I was wondering if a "lack" of voice use could have caused this.

Is it possible for me at my age to have voice surgery?

Thanks- I really need your answers.

  1. Just practice your singing everyday..Before you sing, breathe in your stomach then sing..All you gotta go is just practice, practice & practice!

Oh and, please don't take voice surgery

    Good luck!

  2. one way to get over social anxiety is to get rid of stage fright. Practice sining everyday..in front of family or whoever..by yourself. Do some vocal warm ups. if you have a piano or keyboard nearby, that will help get you the right pitches to start. (do re mi fa so la ti do) lol

puberty might be the big factor. that or you lucked out. lol if your 17 which i am too, then your voice might already be settled. My voice instructor said that around 16/18 is when your voice range settles.. That will be the voice you have forever the rest of your life.

Who knows your voice might change once you start practicing and warming up everyday.

there is no such thing as "lack of voice"

Don't even think about having voice surgery. Nothing could be wrong, and if you went and had surgery, then you would have a messed up voice for sure. The only time voice surgery is done is when pollops form on the vocal chords from either too much screaming, no salivia is made, or vocal chord damage in another way. You can tell if your vocal chords are damaged, because your voice startes to sound like a smoker's voice,,very low, dead like and it sounds like they will hit the floor and die any moment. and surgery is just as bad. you sound like that after you have surgery as well. plus it is done with lazors which leaves a scar on the center of your neck.

when you don't use your voice that often its good. In fact, most vocally trained singers like me have to go on something called "vocal rest" when we are performing all the time. its to help the vocal chords rest, obviously. lol We're not allowed to talk or anything for a week and have to walk around with a small dry erase board just to communicate with people.

if you are truly worried about any serious problems with your voice, go to your doctor then.

but other than that. don't worry.

hope this helps and i wish the best luck to ya! =]
