  1. I doubt they will ever understand. It seems as if they already have their own societies and everything already, so i doubt they will ever stop. It really is quite annoying isn't it? I don't know if you believe in God or not, but i believe that He will take care of everything we have here until He destroys the earth.

  2. You tell 'em Kevin T!!!

HOW DOES REDUCING WASTE AND POLLUTION HARM THE PLANET??

Maybe you should start paying a little more attention in biology class!! And your Chem classes!!

Advantages of biodiversity among plants includes: higher nutrient content in the soil, more productivity, even better air for the planet.

Then there are the various birds and bugs and even animals that help plants pollinate & spread seeds.

plants that feed us,as well as our animals.

Environmental concerns encompass much more than just the global warming issue! Global warming is also debated among biologists and other environmental science professionals, and is not a reason to attack and/ or dismiss all other environmental concerns!!

  3. People will never understand, just like people don't undertand the whole global warming concept. Personally, I think the whole "going green" thing is a bunch of BS designed to get people to buy these more expensive "green" products that supposedly do less damage to the planet.

  4. I don't think they will, but most people are reluctant to take "green measures" anyway...

  5. Ignorant Question from an ignorant person. I can spend a year schooling you on the thousands of reasons why you are wrong and your thinking only shows how much of a follower you are. Do some real scientific research and then open your mouth.

  6. What is wrong with you! Going green is in no way harming our planet. I sooooooooooooo agree with Kevin t because there is so many ways that human activity is harming our planet. I doubt u can give any good reasons why going green is a bad thing except maybe the money cost of improving. However, there is tons and tons of bookloads of information of why going green is not only good for the environemt, but actually an esential part of our lives if we want our children and grandchildren to survive. Although u cant provide me with any reasons why going green is harmful, I can tell you so many facts right now.

    Lets hear some:

    TOPIC 1: GLOBAL WARMING

So much Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is dumped into the atmosphere that the greenhouse effect, whose natural funtion is to keep our planet stable, warm, adn sustainable for life has actually turned againsts us. CO2 is a greenhouse gas that thickens our atmosphere, which traps a lot of heat. That heat is melting our polar ice caps. I can give you 4 very basic reasons why melting ice is a very dangerous thing:

    1. Ice is WHITE. the color white reflects heat because it does not absorb any part of the visible spectrum. As the caps melt, they become part of the ocean. The ocean looks almost black from space (in contrast to the white caps, although it also looks blue) and it absorbs so much more heat, thus further melting the caps, which creates more sea water, which creates  more heat, and so on... the cycle is endless.

    2. The melting ice is fresh water whereas the ocean water is salty. The mix of fresh and salt water disrupts the ocean currents, and can pose a threat to many fish.

    3. As mentioned in point 1, global warming will cause the water to become warmer. The warmer water will evaporate more, and become water vapor. The more water there is in the air, the stronger the storms become. Hurrincanes with a magnitude like Hurricane Katrina will become quite common.

    4. As more ice melts, the water level increases. If the water level increases much more, NYC and Florida would be completely underwater. (Florida will be completley, but NYC will be flooded with no possible chances of any repairs)

that was just global warming, lets see what else "going green" will do.

    TOPIC 2: GASOLINE

thousands of people complain that why are gas prices increasing so much. It is not because th Government wants to force us to use more environmentally safe ways (although that is a good side affect that does happens) but the real reason s that there is hardl any natural oil reserves left in the world. There is so few oil left, that the supply is running low, and as the world becomes more technological, it needs more and more to work. So the supply is low, the demand is high...do the math. The prices are now sky-rocketing.

    TOPIC 3: NATURAL RESOURCES

People are polluting waters with such dangerous chemicals and toxic wastes, that water is also running low. Did u know that although 76% of the Earth's surface is water, we can only use about .1% for our practical uses. Out of a hundred, 97% of the water is salt water. about 2.9% is frozen water in glaciers and ice caps, and we cant afford to melt those. only .1% is used by all of humanity, and we are destroying that too. THat water was the same  water used by dinasours 60 million years ago, but they didnt dump harmful chemicals into the water, WE DID! Thats why saving water is essential.

The rainforest is being cut down to the point where there is only a tiny fragment left of  it along the equator line. The depletion of trees is actually speeding global warming because trees take away CO2 from the atmosphere and replace it with oxygen. If there are less trees ,then there is more CO2 in the atmosphere, which means there is more global warming. DO YOU SEE HOW EVERYTHING MOVES IN A CYCLE.

Recycling is also a major concern in natural resources. Why do we ask people to recycle their paper instead of buying brand new paper. That is becasue paper is made of the wood of a tree. The wood is grinded to a pulp, and then manufactured into paper. To make new paper, you need to cut down more trees. The less trees there are, there is more CO2, which means more global warming. (Again another cycle) Also, the trees around the world are running low, which means that the prices of wooden products are increasing. Imagine living in a world where a single toothpick ( I mean a single stick, not the whole pack) costs $3 dollars. if that is the case in the future, imagine the costs of pencils, and then, Furniture.

    TOPIC 4: ELECTRICITY

Why do people say to buy those squigly white bulbs instead of the standard round yellow bulbs. This is because electricity is produced when coal is burned, which creates steam, which causes the rotation of tubines, which creates energy ,such as electricity. The more WATTS you use, the more coal is burned. The more coal is burned, the more Co2 is released, which causes global warming. (See, everything connected) Thos wierd looking bulbs use less watts thatn standard bulbs because they only produce light, not heat. A standard bulb can get very hot after a while, which uses even more energy.

    FINAL TOPIC: THE OZONE:

Around the early 1900's pple started using the pesticide DDT so much because it was so cheap and it was efficient. What they didnt realize was that it was depleting the ozone. Currently there is a massive hole in ozone layer, which is allowing harmful radiation from the sun to enter the planet. Whats worse is that the whole gorws bigger and bigger because the winds keep pushing it open more and more.

Hopefully you leanred something. Going green is an awesome way to improve our planet.

I know it can be frustrating to bend to a new lifestyle, I know i still cant change everything, but I am just a normal person like you, probably younger. I am just 15 years old, not some college professor giving a lecture. In fact, my school , probably the most poor school in our school district, managed to win $75,000 for a nationwide contest becase they were so keen on environmetal protection. In fact, the FIVE people who had who won that were just 6th graders. The 2nd and 3rd place winners were in highschool

I hope you will change your ways because I know that going green is not bad in any way. I bet you cant think of any good reasons why it is bad, can u, besides the financial issue. But dude, whats more important, money, or the Earth iteself. ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Remember that.

If you really want a public opinion in this isssue, then dont choose a "best answer" and let the people vote on what makes more sense.

    Hop this helps

  7. At least attempting to decrease carbon in the atmosphere is a start.  There is no simple solution to the global climate problem.  At least we are trying something and not just continuing to ignore it.

  8. and it costs so much too!

  9. How so?  Isn't trying to save our world, clean it up and make it livable a good thing?

  10. How exactly does using products and transforming your life so you cause less pollution and environmental stress harm our planet?

I could go on giving you multiple pieces of evidence to show you how wrong and ignorant you are, but that would be a waste of my time.

  11. When conservatives actually conserve something.

  12. They will never understand it, because it is impossible to accept such a stupid idea of "what is good for the planet".

When you can breathe carbon dioxide, eat tar and drink oil, you can think about deciding that "going green" is harming your view of the planet.

But finally, being resourceful and knowing what you need for surviving is not harming the planet. Worse is the problem, that the human idea of money is considered more important for our survival as the real existing resources on Earth.

  13. Who knows? I'm still waiting for them to realize that nuclear and geothermal power work better than wind, solar or fossil fuel power.
