When will rowdy clinch his spot in the chase?

now that kyle busch is 648 points ahead of 13th place, he can simply run one lap each race (or less i believe - he just has to start) and still be guaranteed a spot in the chase by at least four points. he would already be guaranteed a spot as the most any one driver can gain on another in one race is 161 if both of them run the race (4 x 161 = 644); but if for some reason kyle were to miss a race, he could lose up to 195 points to whoever wins.

simpler still, according to "nascar now" today, would be for rowdy to finish 10th or better this weekend. if he does that, he will clinch his spot in the chase - and he is already guaranteed to be the top seed once the points are reset.

so, do you think he'll clinch his chase spot at michigan? if not, when?

  1. I believe he will clinch this week.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  2. technically im not sure but realisticly, a few weeks ago.

  3. He already has.

  4. NASCAR Now said he has to finish 10th or better at Michigan to clinch a spot in the Chase.

  5. He clinched 1st last week.

Good luck Kyle, I'm a Jr fan convert..

  6. all he has to do at MIS this weekend is finish 10th or better.

  7. This is kind of pointless because clinching doesn't mean as much to the ones at the top of the standings, but anyways...

I want to say yes he will, but I think he will end up falling a bit short(this despite my predictions for Michigan), but he will have it done after next week.

The top 5 in the points should be assuming that they will be in the Chase for now.

  8. no he already has from what i was hearing, with that win he is in the chase no matter what

  9. My dear, I do believe that he clinched the spot at Watkins Glen.  The announcers reported that he did.  The top spot, based on his wins and how many points he has now.

  10. your math is correct, he clenched it this past weekend at Watkins Glen.   At least thats what some of news articles about it have said.   I guess they were assuming he would start the rest of the races.

  11. Watkins Glen.

Okay there buddy, calm down, and breathe deeply into a paper bag, Kyle's car is going to start, Clint Bowyer is not going to win the next four races, he's clinched it, I promise!

  12. Soon grasshopper...Just be Patience!!!

  13. With the roll he's on he could have two broken legs blind in one eye and still crack a top ten. I don't think anything will keep him form being in the races.

  14. He already has

  15. I don't think you have anything to worry about your boy will be there and probally still leading them all!

  16. yep I have him in the top 3 anyway.  I am choosing Jeff or Tony for the win this weekend though.  If Rowdy wins it well whoooo hooo!  :0)

  17. I think he'll clinch it by next week. It's a safe assumption.

  18. He did that weeks ago (Not mathematically) but I knew long ago that he was in!
