  1. The ice caps could be flowing down New York's Central Park and believers would claim that this is proof that they were right.

  2. Never. At least not as long as there is power to be had and money to be made. Environmentalism with an emphasis on AGW has become a huge industry, raking in over $10 billion worldwide and $4 billion in the US alone. If you want to preserve your research grants, you need to predict doom and gloom - otherwise the people lose interest. The Kyoto protocol will ultimately cost trillions, and do very little. Carbon trading is nothing more than a money making scheme.

From the Washington Post, September 28, 2006:

"According to Point Carbon, a research firm, $12.6 billion of greenhouse gas emission rights, called European Union Allowances, were traded in the first half of this year. The value of all existing allowances exceeds $70 billion."

    And later in the article:

"This is a big global problem, and we have a deficit in global governance," says Vattenfall's Josefsson. "If we could solve this, it could be a model for global governance."

You, Mr. & Ms. Thinking Dissenter, are just a pawn in their game, and in the way of their profiteering and global governance schemes. Face it folks – the AGW scare is driven by the same forces that have driven everything evil since the beginning of time – control and money.

  3. Probably when h**l freezes over and maybe not then

  4. when you grow a brain! which im thinking is never!

  5. When the "skeptics" admit they have no understanding of the basic physics; have no experience dissecting or interpreting data from the primary scientific literature; and do not know the major uncertainties in predicting the effects of an increased longwave radiative forcing on atmosphere/ocean dynamics so are therefore basing their arguments on the flimsiest of rationales with no scientific credibility.

    You go first.

  6. Never. When this passes, they will move on to the next available source of relevance.

  7. They will never admit that it is a scam because they believe it is real to the extent that it justifies whatever actions they desire to take.

The problem the average person has it that we are fundamentally honest.  We might fudge our tax return, occasionally cheat on the spouse, rob a bank or too, but fundamentally we have in each of us some degree of honesty.

But not politicians, they are a breed apart from the rest of us.  Lying is simply how they relate to the world.  Nothing is true or false, merely spin.  Everything politicians say is a lie, even if it  is factually correct, they are still lying.  They are lying because they say things without regard to truth or falsity, the concept simply doesn't exist to them.

How can Al Gore (or any other politician) admit to lying?  They cannot even conceive of such a thing as not lying.

  8. Ok, dude, I admit it. It's all a big scam. I'm making tons of dollars off of scamming innocent individuals like yourselfinto believing global warming is real. And I would have got away with it, if it wasn't for you meddling kids and that dog!

  9. When these guys change their mind about it being real, and mostly caused by us:

The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

These guys also are not exactly scam artists:

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"National Review (the most prestigious conservative magazine) published a cover story calling on conservatives to shake off denial and get into the climate policy debate"

"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air.  We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”

"I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial."

Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

ENRAGEDPARROT - Yeah, the dog is killer.

  10. They will never admit it. It is their source of income. If they continue unchecked, that income will exceed that of oil. I don't think people as a whole are that dumb. Their scam is being slowed down every day and will soon be shown as the scam it is.

  11. Definitions:

    scam

    1. A fraudulent business scheme

    theory

    1. A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.

Sorry, there's no overlap that I can see.  So no matter how many times you call it a "scam" that doesn't change the reality of the situation.
