  1. Yea when the digital system takes control, you will need to get a converter box (Many are being offered free by providers, but check yours just in case) Most newer tv's have built in ATSC tuners (Digital HD over the air). I predict that many more services will be offered digitally through cable lines in the future so I suggest upgrading.

  2. You mean digital, right?  Analog is ending next year, I think just about a year from now.  If you still have an analog TV, you can pick up signals if you're hooked up to cable, though.

If I have an older analog television, will I have to throw it away after February 17, 2009?

No. A digital-to-analog converter box will allow you to continue using your existing analog TV to watch over-the-air digital broadcasts. You do not need to get rid of your existing analog TV. In addition, analog sets should continue to work as before if connected to a subscription service such as cable or satellite TV. Also, analog sets should continue to work with gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players, and similar products that you use now.

This is from that site, so whoever gave me the thumb down, know that my information is still CORRECT!

  3. The analog system start years ago and end in February 17, 2009 when the Digital broadcast would starts

  4. In Feb 2009 all Broadcast Stations ( local stations ) will stop sending both analog and Digital signals.

Analog being the original system used for pre High Definition,  and Digital used for High Definition transmission.

This marks the beginning of the end for analog and the start of the full High Definition age.

My guess is that by mid 2009 virtually all programs,

    will be in HD.

At lease I think this is what you are asking.

After February 2009 folks who have an analog TV will have to buy a special " Black Box " to convert the digital signal to analog for use on the pre HD Televisions.

I recently bought my first HD TV and am able to pickup the HD broadcast from the local stations on an old pair of rabbit ears.  My cable company is sending the non hd signal for these stations.
