Media reports of the day listed the COMMUNIST PLA woes of the early 1990's due to COMMUNISM'S historically proven failed economics and a nearly bankrupt central government. Boots for every other soldier, guns for half their men with only 5 BULLETS PER GUN, no real navy and precious little effective air forces. Command was antiquated as were communications, nuclear capacity and field armor with moral was tanked due to nonpayment of salaries throughout the conscripted service of the P.L.A. The student uprising of 1989 by unarmed citizens seeking FREEDOM nearly defeated the PLA but was repelled with an excess of 10000 MURDERED students in the streets of China's capital. Point is, the people nearly won. 1994 saw the realization of the dream of capitalizing from tyranny while undermining freedom and avoiding living wages by a small group of Arkansas traitors when Clinton, acting as a WMT lawyer while President of the USA, extended "favored nation" trading status to the enemy of freedom

  1. The adoption of the capitalistic system in the communistic system of China will be a point for the Chinese to have their freedom soon.

  2. Nations have goals dreams philosophies, but also need to survive in the real world, which means dealing with the devil from perspective of national philosophies.  It is like not wanting to be "dead right" on public highways ... we mix prudent behavior with our spiritual attitudes.

We don't know if the dreams of communism can work in the world, or if the Russian implementation was corrupt.

I disagree with the assertion that "the people nearly won" ... they won in Europe where leaders were no longer willing to massacre their own people to stay in power.

I disagree that we have a good understanding of the power of the Chinese military.  It is very dangerous to be setting policy based on arrogant beliefs that we know the truth.

I think the best model for the future of China is to look at the Asian Tigers ... nations separate from China which share culture, ethnicity, etc. of the Chinese people, started out being underdeveloped, authoritarina regimes, developed economic freedom, a very strong middle class, which grew into political freedom.

One thing to watch is the Chinese demographics.  There had been a serious problem with population, that was successfully curbed by a brutal one-child per family enforcement.  What the Chinese government may nto have realized is what the effect is of a family, when 2 parents have only 1 child as opposed to many.  That one child's upbrining, moral values, materialism, nationalism, is very very different than the children of prior generations.  This has a HUGE effect on the economy, politics, culture.  I leads to a DECLINE in the population, and a shift in the demographics, similar to what has happened in the USA on a less dramatic scale, where the population becomes top heavy with older folks, and not enough younger to support them.

  3. It's very simple. Bill Clinton, recognizing that the 100 British control of Hong Kong was getting ready to be transferred back to China, realized he had to begin working on some sort of arrangement...

Uneducated say, "Why... what do we care..." Because Hong Kong had become one of the most important central business cities in the world. Economies all over the world would have tanked like a falling airplane if China had blatantly pulled the plug on the established capitalistm there.'
