Why will no politician suggest that at the death of a reigning monarch, the people should be able to choose between the Act of Succession and a move to a republican constitution?

(Yes, I know that most of the British would, for whatever reason, choose to continue installing a W***er at Windsor, but a nation of supposed adults should have the choice - and a monarchy continued on the strength of a popular vote would have a legitimacy it now lacks.)

  1. The Crown is engrained in the constitution of the United Kingdom, and to unravel that would take many years. Any politican elected as Prime Minister does not want to spend their time on such matters so that is why most of them support the monarchy (at least publically).

  2. The UK is already a constitutional monarchy, meaning that the monarch has limited power whiles the core power lies in the hands of the prime minister, elected BY the people.... what else do you want ??
