  1. That will be great. If people born in Africa will fail to pronounce it, they must ask how much African they are. Any way, did some one think about a torcher the then Zulus suffered to pronounce pietermaritzburg. If they managed, all present-day south africans will manage to pronounce Kwakhangela.

It is just not right to talk about European names in Africa. Of course some must be left for history, but many must face the dustbin.

  2. Typical ANC type behavior ! Worrying about name changes instead of the hundreds of thousand people dying of AIDS , Millions of people still not having water or electricity, elderly dying while standing in queues, in the sun waiting for their pension money ...the list goes on and on ! Have you got theslightests idea how much it cost to change a city's name ? More than half a billion ! What happend to the name Thekwini ?

  3. Imagine trying to score KWAKHANGELA POISONS from the local merchi?

  4. Do you see what you've started now D405? These guys are frothing on the sides of their mouths.

Ok, that could be nice to change. But we know that it will not happen. like they say, uma ufun' imali, go to Joburg. Uma ufuna ubumnandi, woza eDurban!

(trans. of the last part - if you want money go work in Joburg. if you want leisure, come to Durban)

  5. The sooner we change it the better. Those can't pronounce it will have to learn or ship out.

  6. Hopefully never, they're filling that country with retarded names. I don't live there any more, but wasn't pretoria changed to something retarded? Or that airport?

d**n, why not just leave it as it is, instead of using names that no one can pronounce?

  7. What's the point? It won't change the character of the city, just cause the everyday civlians to pay more taxes. My theory is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. By the way, for a 3rd world country that is heading towards a recession, is it so necessary to change the name of a city. Are people aware of how much money it costs for a name change. Use that money to balance the inflation and lower food prices.

  8. I would not be so anxious for them to change it - it costs a lot of money and I really think that any extra money would be better spent on buildings for people to live in a and job training so that poor people are better able to support themselves. Name changes can be made any time; people are poor and hungry now.

But then if you are a Zulu, you're smart enough to know that already. I have not met many dumb Zulu's so I am thinking you are just pulling our leg!   :o)

  9. What does D405 stand for. Is it a special number...and hopefully they will never change the name.  What will they achieve???

  10. No they going to call it KwaZuma

  11. Two points:

    1. They'll change the name when they change the name of Pretoria. O, yes, they've ALREADY changed the name of Pretoria... oops, hahaha, sorry, NOBODY GIVES A S**T, everyone still calls it Pretoria.

    2. ALS, to your comment: DURBAN WAS FOUNDED BY EUROPEANS!!!!!!! If you want a town called Tshababalala-ma-blablabla and you feel that it should have some name that ONLY "africans" can pronounce, then go start your own little city? Bluedog12 is right, what did Durban do to offend you? O, sorry, my bad... created by the evil white man... got it...

  12. For what reason would you want to change the name? Did Durban offend you?

Stand still for one moment and ask yourself how much good the name change will bring to Durban?

Durban is marketed across the world and is now know as one of the BEST places to hold conferences at.

Change the name and you will have to do all the selling all  over again!

I just do not understand your people, forcing name changes, provinces borderlines moving and what more? All in the intrest of what? Show me ONE name change that has brought peace and prosperity? Show me one province border movement that brought happyness to the people who changes provences over night without moving? Show me one soul that have found peace and happiness in this new South Africa? Even Madiba is disgusted at what is happening this very moment to our country!

Say it like it is, don't beat around the bush, stop hiding the truth!

The truth is that it is all just a rouse for revenge!

This Government does not care about it's people, no, they only care about self enrichment!

Wake up! Stop wasting money on stupid name change! Rather ask your ANC to build pedestrian crossings across the N2 north and south so that the poor people who cross the highway to get to work can do so safely, rather ask your ANC to spend money on improving the safety of your children in Kwamashu and Umlazi. rather ask your ANC to spend money on building RDP houses for the people who live ON the rubbish dump at Claire Estates!

No, I am sure you do not care about those things! All YOU want to do is change the municipality's name to something of a "Bull's Balls" and name the city Durban something that Foreigners, who spend LOTS of money in Durban, would not recognise on a map and thus rather spend their forex in Soweto!

    Go on, change everything!

After all, South Africa is turning in to a Banana republic in any case!
