The Earth will end in 4 to 5 billion years when the Sun reaches its red giant stage. It will be 100 times bigger and 500 times brighter. Some scientists think that Earth will join Mercury and Venus who will be engulfed by the Sun. Others think that Earth could achieve a widening of its orbit and escape incineration. Either way the Earth will be an unrecognizable planet with only a dead surface of molten rock. The bad news is that within 1 billion years the surface temperature of the Sun will be 10 degrees hotter and humans will no longer be able to survive as a species on planet Earth.

The Earth will not be destroyed by an asteroid. A simple asteroid could end all life on Earth, but it won't destroy the Earth. The most likely scenario is when the sun swells into a red giant in about 5 billion years. It will engulf Mercury, Venus, and Earth.... and then we can say bye bye to Earth!

Earth could end in a couple different ways. A huge astroid or something could hit earth or the sun could reach it's limit and become a red giant, swallowing the earth. Also, a unlikely possibility is that we blow ourselves up with bombs or something

Yes it will and no, you have not got the date right. I think you are confusing two issues...

The Sun will run out of the hydrogen gas it is using in its internal fusion process to produce helium gas (that is what makes all the brilliant illumination and heat on the Sun - like a continuous nuclear blast). that is forecasted to happen in another 4  1/2 Billion Years. At that time, the Sun will expand to four or five times its normal size and consume Mercury, Venus, and Earth - the closest planets.

The date you are thinking about is November 2008 if Barack Obama gets elected to President of the USA. Sometime within the next four years the United States and most of the world will collapse and cease to exist as we know it now from failure to react correctly to expanding debt and simply unrealistic spending.

The United States can spend 170 Million US Dollars on political advertisements concerning the oil crisis, and not do anything about the people that are starving and being slaughtered in Darfur. Wouldn't it make sense to spend half of that money right now to feed starving people around the world? Don't give the money to various government agencies to satisfy their greed...simply seed the air with MRE's (meals ready to eat). Cut through all the c**p and red tape and drop the food out where it can be easily collected and consumed by hungry people.
