I researched this,and according to what the Mayan caledar predicts is sometime between2011,and2012.I saw an episode on NOVA,and their calculations were similar.I have also come across many other teories.I've heard that in 2011,and2012 the axis would shft,causing a wobble in the spin of the earth,changing the orbit acusing extreme changes in the entire solar system.

Yes Correct It Is In 2012

In 2012 the next polar reversal will take place on earth. This means that the North Pole will be changed into the South Pole. Scientifically this can only be explained by the fact that the earth will start rotating in the opposite direction, together with a huge disaster of unknown proportions.

it's supposed to happen in our lifetime i think.  My geology teacher was talking about it last year.  It's going to trigger alot of changes

Polar shift would be quite an amazing and terrifying thing to witness since centrifugal forces would disrupt a most of what we know ... frankly I find it hard to believe it would happen quickly without some large object from space hitting the earth.

Now if you're referring to Geomagnetic reversal

Science hasn't pinned a date down for the next polar reversal, though some are guessing around 3000-4000 ad based on the rate of the magnetic decay.

polar shifts take thousands of years... although scientists do believe we are in the midst of one.. it's barely detectable yet... it will be a long long long time before it actually fully reverses.

magnetic pole shift.... look it up... it's NOT the whole land mass of Earth's poles moving about and ending up on another spot than where it belongs!!!!... it's just the lines of magnetic force that surround our planet, doing a flip.... invisibly, without upsetting much more than our compasses and the migration of birds and whales.... but they'll figger it out just fine... they did after the last one, I see...... and 2012 is a farce... nothing associated with that year is anything but a hoax.... the BEST that can happen is that folks that spew this mess will feel pretty stoopid on the first day of 2013......
