When will the oystercard machines be activated at Purfleet station?

They've been there at least 6 months ! what's the point

  1. They should be live in the summer - but I suspect August is the likeliest .. there was  a delay in arranging the payments system with TfL, possibly due to the change of Mayor and their respective ideas on London's transport.

    Incidentally, if you don't register a pay as you go Oystercard, you're not "tracked" - see other post - but if you lose it and haven't registered it, you lose the value.

    If you use it as a season ticket, as is likely from Purfleet, you are"tracked" like any season ticket holder!

  2. Hopefully never.

    When you swipe in with an oyster card you are effectively carrying an electronic tag that allows big brother to track where you go. Are you sure your happy with this ?.

    I take the view that these cards are illegal as they infringe article 8 of the 1998 European Law on Human Rights. This guarantees your right to privacy.
