When will the swelling from poison ivy start to recede?

my arms are so swollen from poison ivy. now the swelling is traveling to my left hand. i was exposed one week ago and 3 days ago i started taking prednisone(5 in am and 5 in pm for 3 days then 2in am and 2 in pm for 3days then 1 in am and 1 inpm for 3 days). I of course have the rash on top of it. ive really tried to avoid the scraching . i constantly have ice packs on too.

  1. It depends on each person, and their tolerance.  I remember getting at the beginning of one summer and it took me a week to lose the rash.  But then later that summer, I literally rolled my arm in it and didn't get anything.  

    Some people are immune to the oils.  On average, it'll take from 1-2 weeks.
