  1. next year syd was one of the 15 weak clubs to roll over to afl

  2. probally not for a long time

  3. I don't really see the need for any changes at all. It reflects the South Melbourne heritage through the red v on white, and the SMFC on the back of the neck, and the new home Sydney through the Opera House motif.

I understand the AFL's desire from a marketing point of view, to have all teams wearing home and away jersey's, as to sell more, but Sydney don't need to, as they are the only red and white club in the whole league, so clashes are not likely.

One thing I would say, is they should wear the current jumper for all games, except in Melbourne, where they should wear the South Melbourne jumper for the old bloods fans.

Here's to the Swans for 2007!

  4. I can't see the Swans changing any time soon ... why would they, they're still trying to establish their identity in Sydney.

Their current guernsey has been around for along time with only minor tweaks ... if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

  5. I don't think Sydney will make any drastic changes to their jumper any time soon.

However, from 2007, the AFL has instructed clubs they will need an alternate playing strip for colour clashes. This may be the impetus Sydney needs for a different uniform in the short term. Beyond that, I think the current design is here to stay for a while.

  6. I think it looks ok apart from the opera house shape

  7. why the one thing that the afl has kept for 100 years they keep there original jumper sure they change a bit over the years but unlike rugby league where a team comes out in a different jumper every 2 years

but yes the south melbourne jumper SUCKS
