Microwave can warm you a meal in about 30-60 seconds.

Why have they not made a "machine" that can freeze or cool something that fast?

  1. Here is the correct answer to your question. Some semi-conductor device has been invented. By apply electricity to the device, the opposite side of semi-conductor creats cool. Some cpu uses this device to cool down.

  2. Probably not before the laws of physics are changed to allow it to happen.  What would you use it for?  There are already various ways to cool things down quickly, some of which are described above.  You don't have them in your kitchen because you don't need them.

  3. "When will they invent"....

Isn't that about the most stupid question ever?

Invention doesn't happen on a schedule.

  4. It's easy to put heat into an object, it's difficult to remove heat.

  5. Waves of any sort will add energy to an object and heat it, rather than cool it.  Even sound waves can tend to heat up an object, simple thermodynamics.  You need a way of wicked the energy from one object to another, transfer the heat away to make an object cooler.  There is really no such thing as "cold", just something with less heat than another.

  6. I saw this on the show Top Chef on Bravo TV.

This guy made ice cream by dumping liquid Nitrogen into the mix. Froze the bowl full of mix within seconds.

If you were to try this at home, make sure to protect your body parts from coming into contact with the liquid Nitrogen.
