  1. i doubt they will. it's a precious monumentand it holds a part of china's history. a very important part, at that.

  2. neverrr

  3. The Chinese government says that it will never be opened.  I visited his tomb, and climbed to the Cahokia-like structure just two years ago.  As an archaeologist, I wish they would reconsider their decision not to excavate this tomb.

The fabled treasures that must be inside, the miniature model of the city of Xi'an,  complete with rivers of mercury, are chronicled subsequent to Qin s**+ Huang's death.  Followup studies have shown significant signs of mercury in the soil around his mound tomb.  Pretty cool eh?

Perhaps one day in the future, this will be excavated.  However, there is a very good chance that it was plundered in antiquity.

  4. Rumours have it that his tomb was filled with a river of mercury as mercury back in those days was considered a special metal.

High mercury levels have been found at this tomb when plotted against an area vs mercury a shape of an old fashion Chinese water pattern is shown.

Another reason is as soon as it is open up to the air the contains will start to decay. China is waiting for the technology so they can open up the tomb and not cause any decay to it.

  5. the later the better

  6. They are not planning to do so, but you can still check out the Terracotta Warriors.
