  1. You answer is quite simple.NEVER records are made to be broken some day some where under the right conditions any record will be broken.Spectacular Bid I believe was the fastest horse ever from 7f to1 1/4m He set track records almost every time he ran.At Santa Anita 20 years later he still holds the records at 7f and 1 1/4 miles that's an amazing feat for a track known for fast times good weather and excellent thoroughbred horses.

  2. Of course not.  Tujung is right.  once a record is set everyone focuses on breaking it and someone will.  One of Secretariat's great grandsons is in my stable and he is fast but "fastest ever" is a silly question.

  3. I dont think that you will ever get a fastest horse ever. track records are to different. but i think that Ruffian was an amazing horse. she ran so fast that her bones couldnt take it and broke. that is pretty amazing...

  4. Depends how fast you mean.  Do you want the fastest horse over 5 furlongs, the fastest over a mile, over a mile and a half or even further?!

Each racecourse has it's own track record because, certainly in Europe, all racecourses are different and have factors which contribute to the times of races.

The thoroughbred is not necesairily the fastest breed of horse.  Quarter horses were bred for pure speed over a quarter of a mile (hence their name) and arabs are well known for their speed and endurance over long distances.

The optimum trip for a Throughbred is a mile and a half - this is why the Derby is run over this distance.

  5. He won it all in 1973- that big horse SECRETARIAT won the Triple Crown. He won the derby in less than 2 minutes. No other horse has won less then 2 minutes. That same year he had the fastest time in the Belmont Stakes at 2min and 24 sec.!!!!!!!
