When will we have usefull electric cars?

I'm seeing a lot of hype on electric cars but there's nothing practical out there. Most of these cars can't even go at highway speeds. If so, the best ones only last for about 200KMs. Once the charge is gone, it takes hours to recharge.

I'm certain that the technology for low energy loss circuitry and also quicker charging is available.

If they put an alternator that generates power while rolling in series with a high output solar panel they'd be able to virtualy ride all day no?

It seems that the government is too happy collecting fuel taxes to even give a d**n about this technology. Our State/ Province made so much profit on fuel taxes that they're giving 36million back to the cities. I wish they'd give that money back to the people instead!!!

  1. As soon as they can compete with the new fuel

And it is a conversion kit to make it work not a new car or truck or SUV

  2. The technology is there to create useful electric cars. Useful electric cars HAVE been made. Heck, we even have the technology to make hydro-cars, but the government wont profit from making them. That is the same reason weed isn't legalized, because you can't control and tax something like marijuana!

  3. Go to AFS Trinity.com.  They have combined a capacitor with hybrid technology to get an easy 150 miles per gallon.  Cost is reasonable. (Not sold to consumers yet.)

  4. I believe the marketplace has already dictated the invent.  We will see electric cars in 2009, some are in the market now. Problem is the price of electricity will go up as demand does...only solution is build more hydro and atomic plants.....or burn liberals.

  5. Ok, when we get those high output solar panels small enough to put on the car and a way to refuel in under and hour, they might be viable. This technology you are sure that exists probably doesn't (at least in a way viable to the market). If it did, someone, somewhere would have applied it to a car and we would have heard about it. It seems that they would make far more money from that then they would from oil company bribes or whatever. Not everything is a conspiracy or cover up.

  6. Well here in the states, they make 18 cents a gallon so I don't think that is it.

When will we have them?  I don't know, probably about the time we all hit the bottom so broke from buying gas that we can no longer afford even a cheap one.

  7. "If they put an alternator that generates power while rolling in series with a high output solar panel they'd be able to virtualy ride all day no?"

Solar Panels are expensive and don't produce much electricity. There was a race accross Australia for cars powered by solar energy. These were covered in solar panels. They were like light weight four wheel racing bycyles. The driver had to lay down in a tight space under the panels.

It's just not practical to power a car with them.

  8. We'll have them after the oil companies stop buying off congressmen.

  9. Honestly. When is the last time you drove 200km?

I bet if you actually thought about and planned it, you could make do an electric car you could build yourself and rent a car the other few days of the year you really need range. You'd also discover that power plugs can be found all over!

As for the alternator on the wheels thing, doesn't work.  Can't get free energy.  Solar panels don't supply enough power.
