When a northern wind blows southward into a large mountain range, that generally creates a type of rain shadow on the far southern side of the mountian range, am I correct?

I am drawing a map complete with wind patterns but, I want to keep it realistic..

  1. If your prevailing winds happen to come from the north and pass over a mountain range, then yes, you can get a rain shadow there.  It depends where your moist air comes from though.

  2. Usually it rains on the eastern side of a mountain!

    sorry, this doesn't help much!
