What are some steps that could be taken to lead to educational system with high quality, accessibility affordability and where the staff has equitable compensation?

  1. I think they need to make school an 8 hour day, like they do for work.  Therefore, the kids learn more, and the teachers actually work an entire day.  Also, whats up with Summer vacation???  Kids don't harvest on their parents' farms anymore, so there really is no need for a huge 3 month break anymore.  My kids have one week off in EVERY month they're in school except April.... all I can think is those must be really great Union negotiators.


  2. The one thing that comes to mind is paying what teachers are worth. No matter what job you do, if you are significantly underpaid, you are not going to do as quality of a job as you would if you were paid what you are worth. I'm not saying money is everything, but you are certainly going to put out more of yourself if you are being compensated as you should be. You may not like my answer, but I'm sure that's how a lot of people feel.
