When would a drug test be given?

would it be taken at a physical or doctor check-up? what about appling for a job?

not that i have ever done any drugs.

depends on if the job requires one.

but  not for applying unless you are getting hired on the spot and sent directly to your physical

It would only be done during a physical if the doctor was concerned about drug use; it is not part of a regular check up or physical unless there are reasons to include it.  More & more, employers are requiring pre-employment drug screenings.  You are offered the job on the contingency that you pass the screening.
