  1. I agree that champagne fountains are passe.  But to answer your question, it will be on display and filled with the champagne before your come into the room.  I mean, it's there for the toast correct...which means it should be in place before the toast.

    I also suggest the wait staff serving the champagne or have the wait staff take one opened bottle to each table or have them there upon guest arrival and let the guests pour themselves.  The champagne flutes should be at each place setting of course.  


  2. I would say before, so that those glasses can be served, so everyone has a drink.  Depending on how big the fountain is, all the wedding party members, especially those giving a toast, can be served glasses from the fountain.

    Seriously do people still do champagne "fountains"?  Ick.  You don't know who's cleaning those things when you get them.

    I would suggest opting for bottles of champagne being served by staff at your venue instead of having champagne recirculating through a pump through a fountain.
