  3. Any deep cut can become infected. Let it bleed for a bit or use hydrogen peroxide to clean out the cut. Treat it with an antiseptic and bandage it to keep the site clean until you heal over.

  4. April said it best.

Some turtles have a nasty bite and can leave a good scar.  Mine have never tried to bite me yet.  My oldest is 7 years old and she is a huge water turtle.  But I do know someone that has a nasty bite scar between the thumb and the next finger.

Chances are if you are keeping his environment clean you should be OK, but keep an eye on it and anti-bacterial soap helps as well.

  5. all turtles potentially carry salmonella, and other germs.  Depending on how deep the bite is you should be ok as long as you thoroughly clean the wound and put on salve and a bandage.  If you notice any redness or discharge or if the wound becomes more painful then definitely call your doctor.  If you are still unsure, you could call him now and explain your situation.
