IM is instant message.  Not sure about wtb but opposite way round 'btw' means by the way.

Do people say it frequently? I agree it's probably just an error..not the 'wt' part but the person who typed it easily could have pressed the letter 'b' when they meant to press 'v' which is right next to it on the keyboard. Then it would be 'wtv'..which you probably already know means whatever. Or it could be what the firetruck ;]
