  1. Yeah I like to experience new things and tasting their foods is part of experiencing their culture x

  2. Absolutely. I don't just taste it - I eat what they eat. There's no point in going otherwise, IMHO. And researching the local cuisine beforehand is fun as well. It can also get you in the hotel or local restaurant chefs' "good books" very quickly, if you're the only one trying the local speciality he has so lovingly prepared, only to see everyone else going for the English dishes.

  3. Absolutely...I eat it exclusively when I'm overseas (except for one lapse when I got fries from McDonald's in Moscow - sue me, I was homesick!)

  4. Yep. Greek food is magic. Esp. squid and dolmades (stuffed vine leaves).

  5. Yes, but I m wary of some countries. I don't think I'd like to knowingly eat dog, though I may have eaten it unknowingly.

  6. I'm American and I visited Mexico. Yes, I like Mexican food.

  7. Yes, but I like to try and see it first!  Was served what looked like a bird's foot in a paella once, but have had some simple and delicious local dishes.

I've read that some Chinese eat feet, beaks and stuff.  I couldn't do that.

Waste not want not, but some things are not for me.

Suppose if I was starving I would eat anything.

  8. yes i do like to eat what the locals eat

  9. of course!

  10. Yes seek out where the locals eat you cant go wrong.

  11. always. we love to find a small place where the locals eat, have spent many happy evenings making new friends this way. try and learn a few words of their language, a little effort will make a big difference

  12. I only ever left the country once - i visited spain, france, amsterdam, scottland, all over england.  I was gone 3 months.  Yes I ate local food.

    It was awesome!

although i had this one opfa in Amsterdam that was god awful.  The only really bad experience I had.  Fish soup & paella in spain - crepes in france - BREAD oh my god the bread & the cheese wasn't to be beat in Amsterdam.

  13. Yes, I do. It's fun to try new things
