Do you have a good friend or family member who "keeps an eye on you" in case you get too drawn into paranormal things?

  1. I'm not worrying about "losing it". The only real friends I have are at least passively interested in this and the people from my church don't have any idea that I'm interested in all this.

  2. Well, dealing with the paranormal IS a fine line between sanity and insanity, but I think if you can manage to keep one foot firmly on the ground while the other is "up in space" (so to speak) you should be alright. If you keep your rationality in check everything should fall into place and make sense without you having to strain yourself too hard to understand...which is what, in my opinion, drives sane people into madness.

  3. Lose what?  What a weak mind that assume anything can overtake and take over normal consciousness!  The paranormal exists.  But there is a danger that the explanation for many things does not have to always be paranormal.  Normal science has made large strides in explanations of what was once thought paranormal.

  4. Do you mean a spotter, like the little gymnasts have?  You know, to sort of catch you before you hit the ground?  Well, I think it is a good idea to always have someone around that keeps you grounded.  Whether skeptic or advocate, I think we all sort of get carried away with our ideas from time to time.

  5. People can obsess about anything to searching for that rare stamp in every town they visit, bathing, going to confessions, etc. There is nothing (in my opinion) innate about paranormal research, investigations, or knowledge that will somehow cause someone to be obsessive (that is the trait of the person not the paranormal).

No. All of my friends and family value the pursuit of knowledge and education. I guess that's why I have never become a skeptic and chosen to shun the advancement of science for my personal beliefs.

On the other hand I would expect my friends and family to say something if they noticed anything that was interfering with my family, social, or professional life.

  6. Yes.

"Investigating" can be very addictive.  It is like want to hear more, feel more, see more & experience more.  Alittle is NEVER enough.

Most will say No, that it has never gotten to that, but most likely it already has & one may feel that they are not too deep into it.

Yes again, I have a couple of great people who tell me when I am going to far & need to rest.

Just a thought:  When one goes to investigate, be aware that spirits have to draw energy from somewhere.  Don't be blind to think that they can not or will not draw this from you.

  7. No.  I always ask for Gods help and guidance before any case I work.  Over the years, I have learned that there are a few things that I am not able to help with.  Those I pass along to someone who can.

I have had some physical after effects after investigation of a case, but I ask God to take them away from me and so far without fail they will leave.

PS  I think that the writer before me  Angiomapple(sp) might have said it best.  I certainly do agree with that explaination.

  8. No-one in my family watches over those of us who are involved with the paranormal, but I do have a brother who swung back to the religious side and honestly, I think it is those of us 'less than normal' members of the family who have to watch over him.

You see, I believe Jesus walked the earth and had soooo many good things to teach to people, but I have difficulty with anyone like my brother who puts people down just because we aren't one of the people who follow 'his' religion. He has turned to speaking in tongues and believe he is a prophet himself (in the name of his religion). I do not believe in an unforgiving God who will send us to h**l if we sin.  And even in the bible there have been many prophets... and seers... so when he tells me that only those prophets that are deemed by his church are the true modern day prophets, I find it hard to swallow.  I do not claim to be a prophet but I pick up on a lot of things, but that is simply who I am.  I do not practice satanism, Wicca and any kind of organised religion.  I simply believe in a benevolent God who dwells within us all and we are all sons and daughters of God, made of the same substance and in the likeness of his or her own image.  Does this make me loopy, insane, illogical?  There are some who say that the very fact that I THINK I see or perceive or predict things makes me insane.

If I could shut it out, I simply wouldn't.  I have helped too many people.  I tried many years ago to RETIRE, but when people kept coming back and asking me to help them again, I could not say no.

Deenie, I know you ask a lot of questions about paranormal things, but from a viewpoint that it needs to be proven before it is believed.  Like me who started out as a scientist, I no longer disbelieve, but like many others, I continually need to be shown some kind of evidence but will always err on the side of reason and proof... and it is quite amazing that I still have this stance considering I have watched, experienced and witnessed too many paranormal things in my life.

No, I have never lost any job because of my leanings.  I have acquired jobs because of it.  As a writer for various esoteric magazines I am never without work.
