I have a really nice home gym and has been working great, I also have a pool large enough to do laps.

I just wanted to know if i necessarily have to work out with them because I beleive I can get all I need right at home, and save on gas too.

If it matters, I am about to sign up for the USAF.

  1. For the Air Force, there's a physical fitness test that you will have to take when you get to Lackland AFB.  It is your recruiters job to make sure that you are prepared before you leave.  Trust me, this is for your own good!!  When you start basic, it will seem hard.  It's supposed to though.  If you are in good shape before you get there, you will be a step ahead of everybody else.  Your recruiters will probably do a basic assessment to see where you are, and go from there.  If you're already in good shape, then you probably wont have to do a whole lot with them.  Good Luck!

  2. You don't really have to, there's nothing that mandates it, but it is a good idea, in any case. The recruiters know the system for PT and how it work, what we look for in order for things to be "correct".

When I was in DEP, it was mandatory that you check in physically with the recruiter once a month. That's when they did PT/Drill/etc. It's just practice. Either way, a good idea--although they can't mandate you do it.

  3. Don't think they would make you if your in-shape already and stay that way, but if you over weight they will want proof you are trying to lose weight and get into shape.

  4. No you don'tt have to work out with the recruiters. Only if your overweight and they're worried about you not making final weight. Besides don't worry the physical requirements for the USAF are a joke
