When you adjust camera resolution does that impact noise levels?

For instance, your camera shoots at 12 mp full resolution. You adjust the camera so that it shoots at a lower resolution of 6 mp. Does this change the noise levels? And on the same line, does this impact image quality?

  1. Lowering the resolution always matter with the image quality and not the audio quality. If you're shooting a far or very noising background, I suggest you record another audio and sync it later.

  2. I don't think so. I shoot in RAW mode, so you're implying JPG I suppose. I should try it.

Here is one at ISO 3,200

  3. No, the Megapixels, just affect the size of the picture, the quality is controlled by using the basic, normal, or fine on your camera, that's what affects the noise.

Although if you enlarge the picture, you will have some noise on the image if using lower resolution, but not too noticeable.

MP means how big the picture can be printed, it can affect the quality only if you print bigger than an 12x18  with 12MP. If you set the camera to 6MP you would be able print good 8x10 though.
