When you are asked: "What are you weaknesses"?

by an interviewer, how have you answered? I find it quite hard to answer, I mean, nobody wants to admit their weakness for the fear of not getting hired, right? What were some of your responses? and did you get the job position afterwards?

thanks!

I mean, even if you try to get away with the answer and tell them your weakness is something not too bad, for example, I do too many things at once, they'll think you are multitasked & therefore see that as your strength...

  1. That's exactly what you are suppsoed to do, turn a negative into a positive, like "too task oriented", or "perfectionist" you never want to reveal a true weakness, like too emotional or tardy problem.

  2. Answer with things that will appear to be strengths, eg.

    I demand perfection of myself.

I am more happy working than playing.

I worry about other peoples opinions a lot.

  3. My favourite is....."I'm way to honest"

When the interviewer questions this, because they always do, I say..."I really am a terrible liar so if I have to say that someones not in or the cheques in the mail and I know it's not, I'm in trouble, no one ever believes me".

Add:  Another good one is..."Sometimes I make people crazy because I ask too many questions.  I really hate having to do things twice and so I ask lots of questions in order to get it right the first time."

  4. That is actually a favorite trap; you counter it by saying you are too detail oriented, a perfectionist, too focused on your work, etc; always make a weakness sound like a positive, never admit to a true weakness, that's not what they want to hear.
