Do you discreetly pull your handbrake on to slow down a little? And do you avoid eye contact?

  1. I smile sweetly at him and say "Hello problem, what appears to be the officer?"

  2. Put on your brake. Even if you avoid eye contact it is not the eye that the gun is pointed but the vehicle itself.

  3. I think it is a natural reaction to hit that break, no eye contact. Just prayers and releif when they don't come after me.

  4. if he already has his radar gun pointed at you its a little late to slow down cause he already has you pegged.  just keep on rolling and hope he finds somebody else.  and if you avoid eye contact that will only draw there attention.

  5. I just tap on my brakes, keeping eyes and head forward watching the road...

  6. It's usually too late if you have already seen the 'ray gun', you will be exterminated! Lol

  7. hand break so the tail lights don't go on if i am going way to fast. just let my foot off the gas if i am not going that fast

  8. i always take my foot off the gas, because if your decresing speed its hard for him to get an accurate reading of how fast your going...but if you hit your break he will see the car jerk and know you are doing something wrong.

  9. Lol, I press down on the brake pedal, I'm usually wearing my shades so he cant see where I'm looking. BUT I'm usually going the speed limit so I don't worry too much that ill be pulled over, but still I get nervous and slow down anyway..

  10. both...try to slow down a bit and match the rest of the driver's speeds around you

  11. I let off the gas, maybe downshift (depending on speed) and look them straight in the eye. I am not intimidated by cops.

  12. There are a lot of ridiculous answers here.

    1) Just because he's aiming the 'gun' at you, it might not be too late, he might be just getting ready.

    2) Forget about slowing down gradually, or using your handbrake, use your footbrake as quickly and safely as you can, the only thing that matters is your speed while the 'gun' is activated.

    3) Don't worry about eye contact in any way, it's only 2) that counts, just keep your eye on the road as normal.

  13. LOL yep i do that but let you into a secret? i have my gas brake linked with my brake lights! so every time i gas it the brakes lights go off... people slow down, i speed up! (i wish)

  14. Nah, I just keep driving like a little ol' lady.

    Signed,   Little Ol' Lady

  15. I mash on my brakes (very subtle). I don't really care if they can tell that I was going way faster, I just make a point of passing them going really slow.

  16. I always feel a bit guilty, even though I have never had a speeding ticket and have never broken the speed limit in a 30mph zone.  Somehow I always seem to feel guilty when a police car is around.

  17. I think you should slow down when you see Cop cars anywhere. Avoid eye contact if you have something to hide....they know you are looking at them. Just relax and attempt to go the speed limit.

  18. I give the n**i salute.  They always recognize it and give me a thumbs up.

  19. I try to act normal, but I end up looking too suspicious and paranoid, even when doing nothing illegal. lol

  20. I'm not sure anything you do at that point will matter. I would slow down but the cop already has how fast you were going before so just cross your fingers that he is in a good mood.

  21. that may work, but chances are, if the radar gun is on you-you're already caught.

  22. Take your foot off the gas.   They look for the dip in the hood.

  23. You should never use your handbrake to slow down - it should only be used to keep your car stationary, not to get it into that state.  Pulling the handbrake on in motion could cause you to skid and lose control - now that would REALLY impress PC Raygun!

  24. Most people put on their aluminum foil hat when there is a ray gun involved.

  25. Yes and Yes

  26. I would imagine that by the time you have spotted him, it's all too late. Your best bet is to stick to the speed limit and then you will have no worries anyway!!!

  27. I just slow down a little to show respect, and I do look at them with a show of concern.

Also, these things on the back of my car don't hurt:

    American Flag sticker

    Fraternal order of police sticker

    State trooper sticker

    Local sports team sticker

    US Marine corps sticker

This is a concept I picked up from a buddy in the marines who always seemed to pass inspections with flying colors because he staged his room and locker with certain key items laying around:  a bible, an american flag, a picture of his wife and children, etc.  He was a master of the game.

  28. Hand brake to stop, do you people know nothing about driving. How's he gonna see your tail lights from in front of you.

  29. I just slow down a little and keep my eyes on the road, not looking that way.

  30. avoid eye contact and just let up on my gas but don't brake..its too late as he knows what you are doing.  Police do this for a living and if they decide to give you a ticket...then good luck talking your way out of it

but I have never got a ticket in my life and I am 57.

I got one ticket and went to the magistrate (judge) and she threw it out but she had me go to traffic school and it cost me $40.00 for the drivers training  but the ticket was dismissed ..Michigan does this if you have a clear record and its your first offense.

  31. If you are driving to the speed limit, ray guns should not be a problem.
