  1. You know, feeling sad is yet another feeling that our current culture thinks of as "bad", and hence most people feel guilty when they become sad, making them even more sad. Ironic that.

The truth is, sadness is such a fundamental feeling evolved in all humans, and a lot of animals as well. If it were really "bad" for our survival, we wouldn't have evolved it, plain and simple. Of course, sadness doesn't really feel "good", but one should realize that it is what it is ... a feeling.

On days when I'm feeling sad, I recognize this, and I simply "accept" it. This makes the whole process much easier. I acknowledge that I am sad, for whatever reason (even if I don't know the actual reason, it doesn't matter), and from then on, I just try to stick to myself and not do anything "crazy" that might put me in a worse mood. I generally do the minimum at work, get back home, and just take it easy for the day that i am sad. Accept your sadness as normal, and it will become much easier to deal with.

Now if you are sad for an obvious reason such as a relationship breakup or family loss, that's even *more* understandable, and you should definitely not resist it. Getting help from friends/family/therapists at that point is recommended to speed the process, but don't feel like it's "wrong" to be feeling sad, just let it run it's course ... it is natural.

  2. My mother.

I don't have many friends and have lived a life where I hide no secrets from my family.  I look at life as a short trip that we must make smooth and if I cannot trust my family and let them know me then I must not be living life right.

She knows me best!  She knows I can hear negative comments and still keep love unconditional between us.

From her I will not hear, "suck it up" or "men don't cry."  I will only hear truth and helpfulness.

  3. Music and lots of it!

I also love to read whilst I'm listening to music.

Another thing that cheers me up is watching Whose line it is anyway and The Drew Carey Show on youtube. Those shows crack me up and take my mind off of things

So basically anything relaxing or anything that distracts me.

  4. it depends in what situation. if i dont want anyone to know, i blog anonymously. if i really need help, i go to my closest friends. i try not to think about it too, if anything.

  5. it might sound dumb but i write my feelings out in a journal or i call my closest friend and go out for starbucks:)

  6. I try to get lost in a good book
