  1. After we've checked the chart to see if the area is suitable for anchoring and getting ready to set the hook, we first check around to see if there are any mooring buoys and avoid anchoring near them. We've found that being first at an anchorage allows us to set the swing radius and subsequent boats have almost always anchored using the radius we've established. Our ground tackle consists of 30' galvanized 5/16" chain and 300' of 5/8" nylon rode.

    Good luck!

  2. It is always best to call ahead and try and make a reservation. If for some reason you can't, see if you can find the harbormaster and talk to him or her. They can always find a spot for you.

  3. The fraternity is sure to lodge u at short notice; they always do, matie! but, good if u could call up beforehand and alert the port!
