When you become a GM. how long do you train for? ?

i am a little freaked out because this manager i worked for got a job as a GM, i believe i knew where he got hired as a GM , however, i was at the little strip mall around my town and he's car is parked outside of the restaurant he got hired as a GM, maybe that is where he is training to become a GM? idk, but even he told people that city in which he was going to be a GM and the city he is at right now is not it, ..maybe he is still training? we did leave on good terms with each other, but i dont want to tip-toe around my town just in case i see him and if i go into that restaurant he will prob. think something..

There is no set training for the job of GM. Each house will have it's own requirements.

There are some who get the job of GM just by lying on their resume.

It shows up pretty fast if you are over your head.

I wouldn't worry about it unless he is GM where you are now working.

That could be awkward!



I once trained a new manager who later became our GM.  

He had forgotten I had him on day one where he told me all about his last job.

When he was promoted, he began to tell everyone he was GM at his old job, which I knew was false.  I just kept my eyes open and my mouth shut and watched.    Sometimes you have to make your own fun at work.
