  3. You have to have special training for motorcycles and bikes.  All officers start in cars and can apply for positions on the other squads as they open up.

  4. It's generally up to the department as to what you're assigned. Most officers get assigned to a car, and then can transfer to a bike or motorcycle, once they complete the training and gain seniority (if necessary. My PD required 2 years before you could transfer). Usually a division chief will decide what you get.

  5. It's decided entirely on how you look.  If you look kind of cool you will be assigned to a patrol car, if you look way cool you will get a motorcycle.  But if you look like a goober, you get a bicycle and a radio to put on your belt.  If you want to ride in style you gotta start working on your looks!
