  1. You get the confirmation page and a confirmation e-mail. Print those out and bring with you as those are your tickets.

  2. Tickets purchased online or anywhere else are issued electronically unless otherwise stated (you would receive those by mail and you would pay extra)  Orbitz provides you with an itinerary not actually ticket because the tickets are stored electronically.  You may checked in 24 hours in advance for your flight from the airlines website and print your boarding pass.  A boarding pass is what you need to get through security and board the aircraft.  You can also check in at the airport on the kiosk machine.  They are very easy to operate all they require is a debit or credit card with your name on it (does not matter what was used to pay for the ticket) it just reads your name and finds your reservation.  You could also bring your itinerary with the airline confirmation number and enter that on the kiosk machine.

  3. You get a "record locator" which is a string of 6 letters, such as RJBDSE.  You just need that.  Actually, you can show up to the airport and have them look it up based on your name.

It is not required, however advisable, that you check-in online for your flight, at your airline's website.  Then you will print your boarding pass.  This saves you waiting in line, if you're not checking a bag.
