  1. i think i might've fractured my wrist last night, am just about to find out...but when i was 9, i did break my forearm, but the xray was misread at first, i had no cast or splint or sling until the radiology dept. sheepishly called my mom the next day to tell her to bring me in for casting right away.

if it's a 'greenstick' fracture or hairline fracture, they might not cast or splint you right away. if the 'break' is more severe, and needs to be set, there should be NO delay at all. did you go to the ER? if not, somebody isn't doing their job right.

  2. The typical treatment now seems to be putting it in a split or soft cast until an orthopedist can examine it.

  3. Well, they have to reset your arm before they put a cast on, so usually they put a cardboard sling and guaze on your arm, put you to sleep, reset it, and you will wake up with a cast on your arm. Im only 13, so they had to put me to sleep or I would be screaming through the whole ordeal.

  4. It depends on the break. If its slight like a fracture they will make an appt. If it is a true break they will do it then.

  5. No matter what type of breakage it is your arm or any limb for that matter should be taken care Right way that is if you go to a hospital emergency room. There is no such thing as making an appointment to cast or bandage your arm or limb. If your bone broke it needs to be put back in place and cast right away before the heeling process begins. If your bone is cracked a bandage and sling for arm or crutches for legs is mandated.

  6. I've know doctors to wait 72 hours to make sure the swelling was down

  7. The one time I broke my arm it didn't get put in a cast right away because it took a day or two to get the x-rays read.
