When you buy a Sony camcorder does it come with the "Picture Motion Browser" or the "First Step Guide"?

When you buy a Sony camcorder does it come with the "Picture Motion Browser" or the "First Step Guide"? I just recently bought a Sony handycam DCR-HC52/HC54. and I've looked at the instruction manual on page 48 & 49. It talks about installing the "First Step uide" and this CD-ROM that was supplied. The only disc I got was a DVD on how to film. I would really like to download this and I wasn't sure if it was something I got from online, or I need to buy, or something that they forgot to put in my package.

I really hope that made sense to you.

Please help me with this issue.

You question does makes sense - though I am surprised you can't find the disc in the box... the good news is you really don't need it. Since you did not tell us what computer you are using, I'll cover the two most popular...

Windows MovieMaker or Apple iMovie are bundled with the computer operating system (Windows XP with SP2 or newer; Macintosh OSX) and are much better for editing video than Picture Motion Browser.

In either case, in order for your computer to recognize the camcorder, you need to connect the camcorder's DV port to the Firewire400 port on your computer with a firewire cable. If you do not have a firewire400 port on you Windows computer, you need to install one - they are inexpensive and easy to install:

You will also need a firewire cable (most likely a 4-pin to 6-pin):

USB will not work. A firewire cable was not in the box with the camcorder.
