I get a new phone soon, and I'd really like the Blackberry Pearl. I do verizon, so if the phone costs $100, then I can get it for free (since it's been 2 years since my last phone, I can do that). So I'm wondering if the internet, GPS, email, IM, bluetooth, etc...all cost extra to use, if I have to have them, or they come with the phone...included with the last price. HELP!!! need answers!!!

  1. Yes, it does cost more than a plain, voice-only package.  I am on AT&T, and the monthly charges for any Internet-enabled SmartPhone or PDA, adds $30 to the price of the phone package.

In my research for our own new phones, I found that Verizon and AT&T (the two largest vendors) packages are nearly identical.

The major cell phone providers are participating in a form of price fixing that has the equivalent result of collusion.  Although, it isn't obvious that they are in agreement not to compete, the fact that two, such enormous corporations arrive at exactly the same feature set and price point can't be an accident.
