  1. It's a good idea to try to buy the tack the pony has been ridden in...often you can since saddles, especially, are like peoples shoes...they get broken in to the back wearing them.

  2. When you look at the horses ad they will tell you if you can get the tack with the horse or not. some owners might be willing to sell you the equipment if they arent using it on another horse. But all the horses that I have bought have never came with their tack and i had to buy it all. So most of the time  you would have to buy new or used tack for the horse or pony. I can give you some websites that have fairly cheap prices but good quality products if you want and you would just have to send me an email and I would be glad to help with any other questions that you might have. Hope this helps

  3. well most of the time they don't. all the people i know that have gotten new horses had to buy there own tack for the horse. but sometimes they do. i didn't have to be my own tack because i got my horse from my trainer. but i don't think a lot of them do. but good luck with everything in buying a horse. Sabrina

  4. there was only once i saw someone selling the tack with the horses. (they were selling 3 horses and 4 sets of tack). . . other then that in my area not many people do. but it's not totally unheard of

  5. Typically you just buy the horse the sellers sell without the tack.  Then you go to a store and buy the tack you need.  I have never bought or sold a horse with tack included.

  6. it depends on who is selling the horse

  7. Most of time you will need to purchase the tack and supplies.  Even in cases when the supplies are included, you will most likely need to get a saddle that will fit you and the horse.  It isn't probable that everything that the might give you will fit you or be of good quality.  Plan on buying everything except for the halter and anything else you may get will be a bonus.

  8. The halter is usually the only piece of tack that automatically comes with the horse.  Other wise it must be specified in the verbal or written agreement between the buyer and the seller.  It is all up the the two making the deal.

  9. usually you have to buy it, unless a rider is totally getting out of horse riding, or if they are moving up to a horse, selling their pony and the pony sized tack

  10. Most of the time you buy a horse and then go out and buy your tack.

However, once in a while somebody just wants OUT of horses and will package it all in a deal.  One of my friends ended up with just one such package when she bought a TB mare from a gal who's horse had been raised by her mom and her mom passed away.

  11. Matters who you are buying it from. but to be safe then sorry i would buy some.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. It varies - sometimes they come with everything -rugs and all, sometimes they come with nothing, sometimes you get the option of buying the tack at an "extra" price.

My first came with everything, second with a S****y headcollar and the third they unloaded, put him in the stable and then took the headcollar back !

  13. Most of the time when you buy a horse you need to buy tack for it.  If you search through your local papers you might be able to find a horse and tack deal together.  Good luck.

  14. Yes, sometimes the horse's tack is an option....if you don't do anything else, get the bit the horse goes in if the owner will sell it to you.
