When you cover your ear, where does the sound come from?

go to a quiet place, cover your ear with your hand, you will hear a high pitched sound, something like 'yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'.... where does it come from?and what is it?

  1. the sound is due to blood circulation in and around the ear ..


  2. I'm pretty sure it's not an actual sound. I think it's the brain's response the the lack of sound over time, although I have no idea how it actually works.

    If somebody knows anything about how it works, I would also be very interested to learn about it.
