  1. Well, it just depends on what kind of dance.

    If your doing a class like ballet or jazz, then you shouldn't really be talking, well at least thats what i learn at my dance school :P

    But if your dancing at a school dance or a club, then maybe talk about the atmosphere at the place or the music. Nothing too deep, save that for after ;)


  2. if your talking about the class, the teacher. if not, the audience or other partners. not nessesarily mean though. a common topic.

OK, I've done pas de deux in ballet, with someone I'd never met before...dancing with someone is the best way to get to know them, faults and all.   Don't just gabble because you can't stand the silence. They'll be feeling self-consious too.  Just make sure you're always willing to discuss any problems you may both be finding in your dance, or show an interest in a topic they raise.  If they are tounge-tied too, pick up a dance magazine and flick though it, then make some comment like, hey, look at this pic - that's awsome!!! You can break the ice by degrees - good luck!
