Different foods have different chemical reactions with every ones body.  It happens to everyone, a simple suggestion would be to drink more water.  Water will dilute your pee and minimize on the smell.

I've heard that if you eat it a lot it can, but eating it every once in awhile shouldn't make that much of a difference.

I dont know why it makes your pee smeel, but I do know that it definetly does. I've been working as a chef for 18 years and i know that if i have even 1 spoonful of Asparagus soup / puree or even a slice of 1 asparagus spear, i can smell it when i pee, and it seems to react very quickly too, almost within 30 - 45 min.
