  1. When you eat in a fine-dining establishment, you're actually paying more for the service than for the food. There's only so much that can be done with a piece of meat and some vegetables, although I would say that fine-dining establishments do much more than others. I would expect my water glass to be topped off constantly as well as my wine, the server should be next to silent, short of acknowledging my requests, and the food should be impeccable.

  2. very stuck up most of the time

  3. I am very critical of dining out and the service and quality.  I compare my experience with the service, quality, speed, friendliness, and comfort with those around me.  At times, I have noticed other people getting their food before me, a more attentive server, etc. and make my judgements of the restaurant off of those comparisons.  When comparing my casual restaurant experiences with those in a fine dining restaurant, there is usually a huge difference of my observation and difference.  I have had 2 servers at one time waiting on me, the servers "standing over my shoulder" so I am promptly waited on, etc. at the finer establishments. They seem to be much more 'interested' in my approval and concerns.

The servers at the finer restaurants seem to value their job much more than one at a casual restaurant.  I would guess because these servers could always go to the next Applebee's or Red Lobster to work and make about the same, while the servers at the finer establishments tend to make more because of the "tipping rule" or inclusion of tips into the check.

  4. Service is a must for fine dining, in fact the whole experience matters. from the moment you put your foot in the door to the moment your step out... it has to be impeccable. I mean paying for much money for exquisite cuisine is one thing, but its nothing without a complete experience. A feeling of being overwhelmed, treated like you're a prince or pampered like a princess. Fine dining restaurants charge a premium because they have to meet the expectations of diners who expect only the best.

  5. The service is great..they fill your glass with whatever drink youre drinking and come by every once in a while and ask how you like the food. plus they are quite friendly..and it doesnt seem like they are rushing to finish helping you and move on to the next table.

  6. I had great service on my B day @ Steakhouse called Brenner's in Houston. Although we had a reservation the place was jumping & we weren't getting much more attention but  to our bread & soft drinks.  IDK how much time passed before the waiter was actually able to take our order. Then one of the managers brought both my mother & me a free crab cake on the house. I would say that was pretty good since it was a bit inconvenient. This place REALLY takes care of the customers. The food is expensive which is why you only want to go for a special occasion. The servers, hostesses & managers on duty welcome you & tell you good night when walking out the door.
