  1. It is called DOMS. Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness.

  2. I'm not a trainer but I believe it is due to a buildup of lactic acid in the muscle tissue as a byproduct of metabolism.  drink as much water as possible after the workout and stretch before bed the day of workout and again in the next morning. when I first started exercising, I was sore all the time, sleeping or not ... even lying down sleeping was a chore ... just keep exercising, drink lots of water, and eventually you will get a better feel for "how to contract your muscles" so as to exercise them without over-stretching / over-straining them ... experience will probably end up being the ultimate teacher ... hope this helps ^_^

I started working out and geting in shape 5 years ago. Once you start dont stop becuse its ten times harder to restart. About my second year so 3 years ago i tore my Mcl playing football and coudnt walk or work out at all. But after 6 months later I got back into it but it was 10 times harder to get back into it then when i started doing it. SO IF YOU START DONT STOP. Bec its a ***** to stop and start back. But i got hurt so i didnt stop...

  3. uhh this may not be true

but according to my science teacher (who i personally think is on crack)

the fat is literally ripping apart off of your body to be replaced by muscle.

    thats not a fact.

    but could be true.

if you trust old crazy science teachers.

  4. mine usually hurts in the first day....maybe what you mean is that its STILL hurting in the 2nd day....if not then i dunno

  5. Usually they hurt when you start working out (hard) after a long while of being lazy!

your muscles were used to be relaxed and not active ... and when u exercises then hurt because they couldn't get off all the trash that comes from moving them and burning sugar (with in your muscles) ...

    that's why it hurts ...

take a hot bath .. and massage your muscles .. this help you a lot

    good luck

  6. because it takes a while for your muscles to tighten up and then you feel the burn

  7. you gotta strech first

  8. Well here's the straight scoop...oh, buy the way, Morgan W you're gym teacher is on Crack...not even close..It's likely you're not pushing that much in the gym..a delayed response in not unusual. what you're feeling with that soreness is slight tears in the muscle tissue...you haven't torn them to the degree that they'll be sore the very next day. Any muscle you're working on must be pushed beyond what it's normally capable of doing in order to grow. Example: three sets of 10 with 10 lb dumbbells isn't enough to work that muscle past what it can handle so it's not going to be sore for several days and when it is it won't last long..The harder you work it and the more often you do it the less sore you'll get...meaning the more reps or higher weight you'll need to reach muscle exhaustion. The pain is actually the healing process of tears in the muscle...which is a good thing. But with any good thing you can push too much...Timing is everything in trying to build muscle, just as timing what and when you eat on workout days. 9. because the pump all the muscle rushes to the blood

  10. why do you think dumbass??

it's cuz when you arent used to working out you are pushing your muscles...they tear a little in order to get stronger

    get it??

a mean seriously... my cat probably knows that

As for the 2 day thing... its your body nature... thats how your body wants it... sometimes it takes a while alright

  11. Because they are muscles that are not used much until you exercise them. Mine hurt the next day, yours must be a delayed reaction

  12. if you stretch a muscle you usually dont.

  13. becuase you didnt stretch before and after the exercise. its really important to do so in order for your muscles not to hurt
