in front of him/her or just put it in the tray. I have to put the food in the tray because my little toddler kept tipping it or toss it away. How do we stop her from tipping the plate/bowl? Thanks.

  1. I am positive that toddlers do this  kind of thing to keep there mind busy.  We bought those bowls with a suction cup on the bottom from Walmart..

  2. She'll get the hang of it.  Sometimes they just play with the bowl for fun.  For the first little bit, I just put my sons food on the tray because he did the same.  But I would give him food in a bowl every once in a while to let him practice.

As far as stopping her...good luck.  I tried things like the suction cup bowls but they were easy for him to get un done and then there was an even bigger mess when he did.

  3. I would not even try to teach that till they are older. Just put it on the tray.

  4. At first I only put it on the tray and as time went by I would try it on the plate/bowl.  If they toss it away, try it again next time.  They will get it at some point.  Just keep trying.

  5. I had the same problem with my 2 year old before she could feed her self.

Try to teach her not to tip it over. Tell her that if she tips it over, you'll have to pick her up and feed her like that, like a baby. Tell her big girls don't tip over the bowl/plate.

If all else fails, then I'd try buying baby proff bowls and plates that don't tip over.

  6. you should put it in the bowl so they will have a less chance to spill it on them

  7. You can buy those bowls with a suction cup on the bottom that just stick to the highchair.  They're a great idea, but I haven't found any that stick.  Also, eventually she will learn that it stays in there.  You usually don't  see 3 year olds dumping all their food out... :)  My son explores his plate, so any food I put in it gets dumped out.    Toddlers and babies are messy eaters, and that's just the way it is!

I will put a few on the highsdchair tray, and keep the rest on the table where I have control of it.  That way babe has something to keep them busy with and play with, and I make sure that some of it actually ends up in their mouth!

  8. It's kind of a common thing for them to tip their bowl or plate over.  I'm really not certain if there is a real way to make sure they do not do that, until they grow out of that phase.  For now I would place the food on the tray or table that the toddler is sitting at, and keep anything that can be picked up (other than the food) away.

It's kind of a phase they go through!

  9. That's what they do, still haven't gotten all the skills with their hands yet, keep doing the bowl they will get it...

  10. lots of practice. sit by the highchair and stop him/her before they can actually toss it away. tell them it's a "no no" and to eat their food. it works I promise. good luck!
