When you fill out a job application is it a good thing if you have a family member who works there?

I'm applying for a job where my sister works at Mervyn's, and I was wondering if the fact that an employee there is my sister makes my chances of getting the job better?

If they like her and she is a good employee, then it should help you, especially if she sings your praises when asked about you.
