yes first day leave them alone, second day try to feed hem vegtables out of your hand, third day try to pet them as there in the cage, fourth day try to hold them.

Definitely. On the second day, you could put your hand inside but dont pick it up just yet. Let it get used to your hand, it will sniff and may bite, but only because it's frightened. As long as it bites you, leave it alone, let it adjust and try again the next day. Don't be discouraged, patience is the key here.

Well you just talk to it and let it settle in to its enviroment and smells first..Then gradually let it get used to you ....after about 2 days try strocking it then ..pick it up and see if it is used too you.

If not then leave alone for a little longer. I did it and it worked =D

If you're having trouble with him/her getting used to you, bribing with fresh veggies is the key to any cavy's heart.  They should get a cup a day of fresh veggies per pig, so using food to gain their trust is easy!

i would just pet it in cage for first few days, then bring it out for a few minutes on your lap( so it can get your scent) and pet it a little more each day. give it a treat while it out like lettece, or a carrot, red pepper, and praise it tell it how much you love it and will take care of it, they like the sound of the voice it will sooth them when there nervous,  comb it when it out and just cuddle with it it will be nervous for awhile so i would put it on a towel in case it pees.
