  1. I was just a kid. I thought Dad was lying to me. Then I saw it on the news. I cried for a week

  2. I remember there being some speculation prior to the trade. Peter Pocklington was having financial problems with the Oilers and the trade was being talked about in the papers. I think I first heard about the possibility about a day or two before it went down. I remember thinking the Kings were finally going to win a Cup.

The monumental trade that impressed me the most was the deal that sent Espo to the Rangers for Ratelle and Park. I didn't expect that to happen.

And to a lesser extent, I was surprised to see Bobby Orr playing for the Black Hawks (as they were called at that time).

  3. Ditto!  Nobody in hockey nor the world would have believed that it was even a possibilty, nonetheless happening.  Crazy and numbing

    LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!

  4. I heard about it on a news report the first time I heard so I believed it the first time I heard, but I was no less blown away than you were.

  5. LOL i wasnt even alive then. It only took me a minute to believe it because the first time i watched Gretzky, he was in a Kings jersey.

  6. I wasn't into hockey back then. I was watching baseball.

I started watching hockey in 1991.  The last baseball game I went to was in 1994.

  7. I didn't even know.

Perhaps it was because I wasn't alive.

  8. I was two years old.

  9. i wasn't alive then
