And how about right before you got your own horse (or now if you don't have a horse)? And what is the name of the horse you have ridden the most consistently? :)

  1. i usually ride all the same horses. But the first horse i rode was Silver Boy and he went to a therupetic riding school. The second lazy pony was Doone and i loved him, but he went lame and bye bye doone. Now i ride a horsey named fiddler. He is awesome

  2. I rode different horses every time i rode. I think that is the best way to learn, because you learn how to control different issues certain horses might have. If you just ride one horse, you get used to that horse and may not be as good at handling horses when you start riding different ones. You also learn to have a deep or light seat depending on the temperment of the horse you ride if you ride many different ones when first learning.

  3. I rode the same horse for the most part. As I progressed I would move up to a horse better suited for my level, and so on.

  4. well i rode a lot of horses, but most of them the same ones, the owner had. but now i have my own horses so i ride them.

  5. I had my favourites at the riding school but generally we had different horses nearly every time. we were a bit mad and liked the crazy ones lol Before I got my own horse I started riding for the school and helped out with a few livery horses there that I rode out regular too. Worked at a few more places with different horses then I finally got my own which I still have now 12 years later. She's probably the one I ride most but I still ride other horses to just not so much now.

  6. At my barn, if you don't lease or own your own horse you ride one of the many lessons horses and it changes most of the time. Sometimes the my instructor will put you on one horse for a few weeks of lessons if she thinks you do well with them, or have things to work on that are best improved while riding the horse.

I usually ride Kiddle or Dino! I love both my babies

  7. When I first started taking lessons, I most often rode a shetland pony mare named Sugar. But whenever they decided to breed her, I got shuffled from pony to pony for a while. [Fancy, Toby, and Gray just to name a few.]

Before I got Candy, I was taking western riding lessons and riding with my friend (who actually owned Candy). So I was riding around 10 different horses. [Burn, True, Eclipse, Rajah, Candy, Chy, and a few more.]

When I lost Candy, I didn't ride for quite a while (around 2 years). I just started riding with my friend (the same one that originally had Candy) again. Apparently I'm her assistant warm-up rider. lol. So I'm on a few different horses again. [Some of her new barrel horses and Rajah again.]

  8. yes I rode all types of horses in my lessons some were only in grade 1+2 after that all sorts. But I still loved my Paddy! sadly he was not capable for higher lessons. Also he has long gone now(17yrs) still think of him. When I couldn't ride him anymore I looked after him instead. school horses tend to be very institutionalized Paddy was one of them.

  9. When I first started, I rode all different horses. There were a couple that I rode more often, but basically everyone was able to ride just about any horse in the barn. Looking back, it scares me a little cuz the lady even put kids on her stallion - like 10 year old kids! And we didn't know any better.

At the barn I currently work at, the kids ride the same pony for their lessons and only occasionally ride a different one. I like it better this way because then we are able to fine tune the kid to the horse without the kid always having to try to figure the horse out. But a little bit of variety now and then teaches them adaptability and different skills, which is also important.

  10. Well it was a very long time ago, but I mostly rode a pony named Lonesome, and sometimes got switched to Tabitha or another horse/pony.

For the year or two before I got my own horse, I was light enough and experienced enough (a skinny 10 or 11 year old with 4-5 years experience) that the farm owner next door would use me to ride all the bad ponies in for retraining.  Right before I got a horse, I always rode an arabian named Calypso that was boarded there along with 2 others.  The owners were afraid to ride him and were so happy to have me ride him that they bought me tack to use on him.  He was a nut but I loved him because it was as if he were mine.

  11. My "lessons" were always on differnt horses til I got my own.  I actually never had any actual lessons except for camp, and there I always rode differnt horses.

My current horse is Rebel.  altho I do ride some others named Jazz, Ranger, and a few otehrs.

  12. I used to switch between two but they were very similar, size, paces even colour. After that I rode the same one for a few months, then a different one for a few months. Before I got my own horse I rode about 10 horses in 10 years, but I never swapped from week to week, always stuck with one until I swapped permanently.

  13. at first i rode like 3 or 4 different horses. then i switched barns and i ride 3 different horses. i dont have my own horse, but the horse i ride the most is Clair, my trainers old show horse. i also ride a horse named Wyatt he is a great lesson horse because he has the smoothest canter. Clair cant canter, which stinks. she broke her leg when she was younger and they dont want her to hurt herself cantering.

  14. I rode all different horses to figure out which horse i was best on

  15. I rode the same horse because I leased him. I now have my own horse and he is still the only horse I ride, because there are no other horses to ride

  16. I have been riding the same horse for about three years- his name is Jet. Now, I ride a mare named Secret (we pay purchase or half own her) but I my frst year, I rode... about three different horses over a periode of time, then I joined pony club and stayed with riding Jet.

Yes, it is good to ride other horses sometimes. That way you get the feel for other ones too. Sometimes in my lessons, we'll get off half way through and switch the horses and do some canter work a few jumps etc. Its fun too=]

  17. i started on different horses =]

they were all young so i really learned a lot about control.

i now own 7 horses...2 are the ones i ride.

Bailey- a 3 year old quarte r horse

    and

Angel- a 7 year old tennessee walker.
