  1. I helped my dad do ours but they can do it for an extra fee. it is unneccesary, we did it in less than an hour

  2. In our area they come and hook it up if you request it.  I did mine myself.

  3. Hi there. If you get one from a cable provider, you have two options. You can go into the local payment center and pick one up and take it home and do it yourself OR you can schedule a technician to go out and do it for you. Sometimes, there might be a cost associated with that, though. Other times, it could be a long wait. You could go pick one up and call into tech support and have them talk you through how to set it up, also. If you are getting one for a dish company. I beleive they will do it for the initial install with the initial start up fees. If you call and ask for one later, they will charge you a fee to go out an install it for you. If you buy one at a store, for satellite, and then call to have it hooked up, they will come out and charge you for the trip.

  4. If you are getting your DVR from a cable or sattelite tv company, then yes they will come out to your house and install the DVR box for you, but if you buy a TIVO or similar item that is a DVR from a store then it would cost you an additional fee for installlation, however the installl is very simple and you or someone you know can probably do it for you. Good Luck and by the way DVR is the most awesome thing since television.
